State and town figures show Winthrop's 1936 loss ratio at 73.3 percent, up from 65.2 in 1935, with total auto premiums of 124,311 and claims totaling 91,096. Average claim cost rose from 188 in 1932 to 270 in 1936, amid higher overhead and profit loading.
Officials of the Narrow Gauge announce a new train timetable for Winthrop with six morning trains discontinued. The 7:40, 8:00 and 8:20 A M morning express from Winthrop Centre and Ingalls are cut, along with the 5:05 A M and 5:37 A M from Boston and the 8:35 A M from the Heights. The 5:22 Orient Heights train remains in service, forcing night workers to use the Elevated line to reach the Heights.
