Mass Bay Yacht Clubs to honor McCormack at annual banquet

Congressman John W. McCormack of South Boston will be guest speaker at the thirteenth annual Massachusetts Bay Yacht Clubs Association banquet at Pleasant Park Yacht Club this Saturday evening. Thirty four yacht clubs are represented and about 300 members are expected to attend. Dinner at 7:30 followed by talks from notable figures in public life.

At a Tuesday meeting the Advisory Committee accepted Elmer E. Dawson’s resignation as chairman though he remains a member. John W Fielding was elected chairman to succeed Dawson, with Sidney E. Blandford chosen as secretary to replace Fielding. Fielding, longtime secretary and chairman pro tem, is president of the Massachusetts Eino Typing Co. of Boston and serves on local hospital and newspaper boards.

Town Receives 2000 Pounds of Pork For Relief Effort

The Town selects 2000 pounds of federal pork to aid welfare and soldiers relief families. Distribution runs from the Unemployment Committee depot on Winthrop Street with orders from the Town Hall. Veterans contact Charles Hagman and general gifts go to Preston Churchill at Winthrop Savings Bank.
