Winthrop Rotary Hears W H S Pupils in Club Program
The Winthrop Rotary Club meeting at the Winthrop Arms featured a public school program arranged by Arthur Boudreau. Speakers included hockey captain Claire Millington on sportsmanship, Elinor Keefe on resisting misleading modern media, and sophomore George Burditt who read two original poems. Robert Goldberg of the Winthrop High School Echo spoke on finding one's place in life and the purpose of education. Continued on Page 7.

Rites Held For Justin Cronin Son of Local Couple
Justin Cronin son of Mr and Mrs Eugene Cronin of Washington Ave died at home after a short pneumonia illness. Born Winthrop December 17 1911 he attended local schools and Boston College class of 1933. He worked with New England Telephone and Telegraph and founded the Winthrop Boston College Club. He served on Winthrop Council K of C Golf Club and was a town meeting member. Funeral mass was at St John the Evangelist Church and interment followed in Holy Cross Cemetery Malden. He is survived by his parents three brothers and three sisters.

Preaching Mission At Union Congregational Church
The Union Congregational Church announces a week long Preaching Mission starting November 19 led by Rev. Gaius Glenn Atkins D D famed for his 1914 peace essay. Atkins, an acclaimed author and scholar, has written Pilgrims of the Lonely Road and Modern Religious Cults and Movements and Life of Cardinal Newman. He earned a Litt D from Ohio State University in 1933 and previously served several pastorates including Greenfield Massachusetts Burlington Vermont Detroit Michigan and Providence Rhode Island.
