Seniors to Receive Diplomas At Miller Field Graduation
The Class of 1942 at Winthrop High School will graduate at Miller Field with J. Newton Esdaile awarding diplomas. A patriotic pageant What America Means To Me will be staged for the ceremony, ticketed for seniors and a public performance next Monday at 6 30 p.m. The program includes awards and prizes from multiple local groups, a class gift, and the Conferring of Diplomas by Esdaile.

Fifty to seventy lines describe Winthrop residents being mustered into Commonwealth Emergency Military Duty at a gym induction ceremony led by Major Gardner B. Wardwell. Col. Memorial Day Parade Planned by Veterans
Winthrop plans a Memorial Day observance for departed veterans with services at the cemetery and at memorials. The 8:00 a.m. parade from Metcalf Square will honor Civil War, World War, and other memorials, followed by graveside decorations and a Memorial Day address by Monsignor Quinlan.

New Sugar Ration Rules Affect Churches and Lodges
New regulations on sugar rationing went into effect May 19. The State Director advised that churches lodges and similar groups must serve four meals or more per week to qualify as industrial users for sugar certificates. Certificates issued for May-June may be invalid for July or later allocations unless meal requirements are met.
