The Winthrop Council Knights of Columbus will hold its annual Communion Breakfast on Sunday May 17 at St Johns Hall after the 8 30 mass. Fifty service members from Fort Banks Heath and Dawes will attend along with district deputies and charter members. Winthrop Aviator Among Five Die in Louisiana Crash
Second Lieutenant Charles T. Willock Jr aged 23 and five other army flyers were killed when a bomber from Elser Field crashed 12 miles east of Alexandria Louisiana. Willock son of Charles T Willock assistant Municipal Court Clerk of Winthrop Highlands had planned a home visit and had served in the army air service since October. He leaves his parents and sister Eloise. His father coauthored several mid 1920s song hits.

1763 Register For Gas Cards In Town
A total of 1763 motorists registered for gas rationing cards on the opening day Tuesday in town schools. Superintendent Arthur E. Boudreau estimated this accounted for about 44 percent of all cars in town. Registration continued Wednesday and Thursday with a class by class tabulation. Boat registrations brought the total to 1763.

New ARP School To Start At Beach Next Monday
