Miller Field Under WPA Upgrade Plans

Red Maple Tree Presented on Arbor Day by Garden Club
On Saturday afternoon April 25 Arbor Day the Garden Club of Winthrop led by Mrs. Emilie B. Walsh presented a red maple tree. Mrs. Bessie L. Bagley made the presentation with Mr. Lewis Davis and Selectman Roy Pigeon accepting on behalf of the Winthrop Improvement and Historical Association and the town. Rev. Ralph M. Harper served as chaplain. Girl Scouts bugles and drums and Junior Garden Club singing added warmth to the event. About eighty people attended.

Annual Poppy Day Planned May 22
Last Tuesday the Annual Poppy Sales Committee met to set plans for the 1936 Buddy Sale on Friday May 22. Post 1664 aims to sell fifty percent more Buddy Poppies than last year to support veterans in Winthrop. Across the nation more than 3400 VFW units sponsor similar drives. Antirabie Clinic Immunizes Winthrop Dogs

Shirley Street School Vacated For Reconstruction
The Shirley Street School is being rebuilt into a modern brick structure with an auditorium of 500 seats.
