St John’s Dramatic Club Debuts in Laughing Irish Eyes
St John the Evangelist’s Dramatic Club presented the musical revue Laughing Irish Eyes on March 14 17 and 18 to full houses. The program featured dances solos skits duets and a sextette with a large chorus, directed by John Clark and assisted by Mrs Clark and the Kirwan sisters. George Cawthorne led the orchestra. costuing and production were by dedicated committees.

Winthrop League Plans Bridge Party and Dressings Count
A regular meeting of the Winthrop Community Hospital League occurred on March 18. An RCA Radio won by raffle will be drawn at the Annual Bridge party on April 30 1943 at Elk's Hall. Over Four Hundred Inducted Into High School Victory Corps
On March 18 at Winthrop Junior High School gymnasium over four hundred students from the top four classes were inducted into the High School Victory Corps. Guests included school officials and Army representatives who spoke on youth service. The ceremony, led by Acting Superintendent Miss Addie Willard, featured pledges, insignia presentations, and divisions for Air, Land, Production, Sea, and Community Service. The event highlighted fitness, education, and voluntary clubs, with activities such as Morse Code study, photography, first aid, map-making, blue print reading, radio principles, and planned Victory Gardens.

Highlands to be recreation center for soldiers

He died Saturday after a long illness at Peter Bent Brigham Hospital and leaves a widow Bernice Burns two sons John W and James A Jr his parents two sisters a brother and a Winthrop High School teacher. Burial was at Winthrop Cemetery.
