Notices mailed invite members to a March 24 meeting at Osborne Hall High School to vote on a proposed club house project approved by the Board of Governors. The item aims to remodel the club house, beautify the grounds, and promote renewed community recreation and fellowship.
Congressman Charles L. Underhill states in a letter to George H. Russell that he will depart for a committee trip and return to Washington by April 23. He will serve on the Board of Visitors to Annapolis April 25–30 and join a three member committee reviewing House and Office Building staffing. Hearings begin May 1 with summer in Washington likely, and possible October 1 return for more committee work.
The town selects F E Whitman as chairman at the new Town Hall meeting held after the board’s organization. Clerk Charles Hagman appointed, jurors drawn for criminal and civil sessions, 15 special policemen named, Park Commissioners form and elect A J Paine as chair. Town history recalls land bought for library and hall on Winthrop Pauline and Hermon streets.
A city committee directed purchase of land at Winthrop Pauline and Hermon streets for a Frost Public Library and a Town Hall. Landscape architect Jos H Curtis laid out grounds, with the library built and grounds embellished. The old Town Hall has served 71 years and a new hall is now urged, though the exact site remains under discussion.
