Third Child Care Lecture March 11

Shore Drive Closure Due to Storm Damage

New ARP Warden School To Start This Fall
Arthur E. Bou dreau announces registration for another ARP School at Winthrop Senior High for Air Raid Wardens. Classes begin at 7 30 p m with five lectures on Mondays and Wednesdays, final exam March 18, followed by a 10 hour First Aid course. Winthrop needs 1200 to 1500 wardens. about 500 have taken the ARP Course, including many women. Register tonight at the High School.

Air Raid Wardens to Receive Arm Bands this Week
Chairman Percy Sterling of the local Committee on Public Safety says 500 arm bands for air raid wardens have been ordered and should be ready for distribution this week. Units in the defense group will follow in a week to ten days. Finance Chairman Winfield S. Kendrick Jr notes approval to buy equipment for the auxiliary firemen and police and the rescue and demolition squads.

Identification Forms Ready for Distribution to Public Safety Members
Lt. Wm. Wells announces identification forms and cards are ready for distribution to all local citizens connected with the Committee on Public Safety. Each defense worker must fill a form and submit it to Lt. Wells at the police station or to General Secretary Thos. H. Fielding. After classification and investigation, a State headquarters photographer will image each member for an official ID card.

In a low turnout town election on Monday Selectmen Ross F Batchelder and Arthur Verney were re-elected. Batchelder 2541 votes and Verney 2506. Roy W Pigeon placed third with 1573 edging George J Hamilton 1546 by 27. Other candidates: Smith 1239 Kelly 654 Bangs 646 Busch 423. Moderator James A Herbert won over Joseph E Davison by 23 with 1963 to 7. Remby 2644 defeated Baker 1083 for tax assessor. Park Commissioner Hayes 2158 over Remer 1684. Four-man selectmen race included Batchelder and Verney as early leaders.

Motor Corps Class for Women Opens Registration
Registrations are being taken by Mrs. Kirkpatrick at 46 Washington Ave for a new Motor Corps class for women. The first session is scheduled for Monday evening, March 9, under the Women's Division of the local Committee on Public Safety.
