Miss Esther Davis of New York and Miss Helen Ruth Kruger of Winthrop won first and second prizes in the national oratorical contest at the Young Judea convention in Long Branch New Jersey. Kruger, a Winthrop High School graduate nicknamed Dimples, helped form the finalists team from over 500 entrants. prizes include a Palestine trip for Davis and a $100 cash award for Kruger, with Adelaide Seltzer and Martha Lippett earning gold medals.

Final Papers for Bathing Beach Purchase Completed
The Ingleside Park Land Trust Trustees Frank W. Tucker and Clarence S. Eldridge have filed a deed with the Board of Selectmen for a beach and flats strip west of Pleasant Street. The purchase, approved by the March 1928 town meeting, funds totaling 2500 dollars have been paid by the town to secure public use for local citizens.

Autoist Drives on Sidewalk In Winthrop Accident
Miss Mary R. Roberts of 29 Lewis Avenue Winthrop drove onto the Beacon street sidewalk to avoid a child chasing a ball. She struck a mother wheeling a month old baby in a carriage. the carriage was wrecked but the infant remained unharmed. The mother Mrs Gertrude A Lannagan of 57 Shore Drive Winthrop Beach suffered a painful left hand injury but was otherwise unharmed.
