Hearing on 2 Cent Fare at Winthrop Revere
Public Utilities Commission heard a crowd of about 25 urging a 5 cent fare between Winthrop and Revere stations. Representative Shaw claimed operating costs fell and traffic would rise with a lower fare, while railroad officials doubted feasibility. The panel adjourned at noon to study the proposal.

Third Charity Whist Held in St John Hall
Last Thursday evening in St John's Hall Lincoln street the third whist party for the Winthrop Catholic Women's Club Charity fund was held. Mrs Louise Mitten led with aides Mrs John A Lane and Mrs W A Natale. About 150 attended and souvenirs awarded to many names. Next Friday June 23 the fourth party will be run by Mrs Mary E Farrell of Point Shirley with whist at 8 30 and many prizes expected.

Winthrop High School held its 137th diploma ceremony in the Winthrop Theater on Wednesday June 21 the largest class in the school history. Albert R Stedfast presided as secretary of the school committee as Charlotte Trowbridge gave the salutatory and Mary E Lochhead the valedictory.
