Captain Richmond G. Stoehr returns to Winthrop after twenty one months away including time in the South and overseas. He left in command of the original Machine Gun Company of the 8th, which fused with Brookline’s 9th to form the 101st. He immediately began recruiting a second company and had little trouble forming it, later commanding two additional outfits.
