Close of business May 21 1919 shows deposits for United States Government funds at Winthrop Trust Company 11 Bartlett Road Winthrop Center Massachusetts. Bank commenced business September 9 1918 and offers monthly interest on deposits with no limit on amount.
Captain Richmond G. Stoehr returns to Winthrop after twenty one months away including time in the South and overseas. He left in command of the original Machine Gun Company of the 8th, which fused with Brookline’s 9th to form the 101st. He immediately began recruiting a second company and had little trouble forming it, later commanding two additional outfits.
On a windy Saturday evening near Dolphin area crowds alerted police about a distressed boat off shore. Nahant life-saving crew, led by Capt. Gove, rescued Ernest Hichstadt and later Wingold Wilrod and his two sons after long exposure. praised for quick action and perseverance.
A Casual Co. captain, one of the few who led many men and kept rank, arrived in New York on the transport Pannonia. He went to Mineola on Sunday, was discharged Monday, and reached Winthrop the same day. He has since resumed his business with a steady stream of visitors.
