Selectmen Raid Shirley Street Liquor Store
Selectmen led by Chairman Frank E. Whitman raided Kelman’s Shirley street liquor store last Thursday after evidence of sales. Police obtained a warrant from East Boston Court. Kelman was arrested and pleaded guilty to keeping liquor and was jailed in default of bail.

Three Civil War Veterans Parade In Winthrop Tribute
Winthrop paid tribute to its Civil War veterans with dual observances on Sunday and Memorial Day. More than 200 veterans, led by Timothy J. Sullivan, marched from the Legion Dugout to St John the Evangelist and later along Main and Pleasant streets to the cemetery, with participation from Spanish War Veterans and American Legion groups. Three Civil War veterans, John H. Colburn, William Shannon, and Byron Dickinson, took part in the day’s exercises.
