Public invited to seven consecutive nights of entertainment from Saturday July 16 through Saturday July 23 at the Richard F. Metcalf Post VFW clubhouse on Winthrop Shore Drive and Sturgis Street. Opening gun signals the start of the third annual Mardi Gras events.
The Floyd Milk Company announces a one cent per quart price increase effective Friday morning July 15, due to a decision by the Board of Arbitration representing New England producers and Greater Boston dealers. Cream prices stay the same for now. The extra cent will go directly to farmers with no deductions.
The Winthrop Catholic Women’s Club schedules its annual outing for next Wednesday July 20 at the Thorwald Inn Gloucester Mass. Members are urged to attend bring friends enjoy a chicken dinner bridge and coastal views. Reservations can be made by calling several club officers listed with Ocean exchange numbers.

Two Winthrop residents long employed by the Post Office Department retired amid the Federal Economy bill action. Patrick N Barry, special clerk at the North Postal Annex, appointed May 31 1888, and Charles H Norton, carrier at the Central Office, appointed 188? at 101 Summit Avenue, Winthrop, were among 49 Boston District retirees.
Local aviator leaves for Labrador to finish the second leg of an aerial survey mission. The trip aims to map terrain and collect data for regional aviation planning and resource assessment.
