Fourth of July Silent Yet Celebrated Across Town
Independence Day marked the 150th anniversary with safe revelry. Midnight events included the Winthrop Elks midnite show at Winthrop Theatre for two and a half hours and daylight carnival activity by Legion boys at Ingleside into Tuesday. The Golf Club hosted a tournament while Yacht Clubs raced. Four officers monitored celebrations and the fire department logged three still alarms. Community Hospital reported no accidents or police notices.

Captain Hickey Dies. Funeral Saturday
Captain James F. Hickey of Police Station 7 East Boston died suddenly at his summer home at 284 Shore Drive. He was 65 and a Boston Police Department veteran since 1885. Survived by sister Catherine, brothers Dr John A. Hickey and ex Mayor Charles Hickey of Brockton, and brother in law P J Kennedy of Washington D C. Funeral services set for Sacred Heart Church East Boston at 10 A M Saturday.

Legion Carnival Shines as Holiday Attraction in Winthrop
The 1926 Legion Carnival at Ingleside Park drew a large crowd with a lively midway and popular acts. Prizes totaling $500 were awarded at 10:30 led by Siegfried Peterson. residents praised the Flying Lavans, Punch and Judy, and the Kiddies Doll parade. Food profits neared $100, with Mrs. B J Ahearn directing a strong team and Mr. Ahearn aiding with transport.
