Winthrop A F and M family members and friends gathered at the Winthrop Theatre for an evening of entertainment curated by a capable committee. The program opened with a National News reel showing world events including German actions in the war. The Mordeglia Novelty Trio and KH delivered lively acts with encores, while Miss Crosby and Miss Golding drew praise for vocal and piano performances. The Hazel Childs Trio impressed with balloon ballets, and a four reel Alice Joyce film closed the show. Patrons praised the show as a dandy and best ever, with Lodge Master Albert S. Smith presenting Miss Crosby a bouquet.

On June 17 1919 Lodge No 1078 B P O Ellis Winthrop Mass reports Mr Francis A Kennedy of the U S Navy delivered 54750 francs from the lodge for charitable work in France. Kennedy believes the orphan children of France are the most worthy charity. Continued on Page 2.

War era Elk Club in Paris funds disbursed during conflict
During the War the Elk lodge in this town aided drives and gathered from Grand Officers, sending funds to Eiks in France. A nationwide Elks club operated in Paris, aiding war zones with cabled sums before disbanding after the war ended.
