Orrin C. Davis Named Principal of Senior High School
At a school committee meeting last Wednesday night Orrin C. Davis was named to succeed C. J. Thayer as principal of the Senior High School. Davis, previously Highland School principal, has 18 years in Winthrop schools and 15 years as assistant principal at the Junior High. He will assume duties March 3 after the winter vacation.

Miss Harriet Day Dies Suddenly
Miss Harriet Maude Day a former local schools teacher and national artist died at Community Hospital Wednesday at age sixty nine. She taught in local schools forty five years retiring June 1937 and later devoted time to painting earning recognition. Oral services set for Friday February 28 at 2 p m at the Methodist Church Winthrop Center with surviving brothers and sisters. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.
