Winthrop High Named Observation School and Trio Attendments
Winthrop High School was chosen for senior university observers from three seniors who will work four days weekly in Mathematics Modern Language and English for about 12 weeks. The Winthrop Teachers Association met for its third session of the year with Centre School teachers in charge and discussed the Smith-Towner bill for a national Department of Education. The meeting included a lecture on The Land of Color and a theater entertainment plan for May.

Winthrop Endures Severe Snowstorm Across Town
Last Sunday Winthrop faced a brutal blizzard with drifts reaching feet in places. The Methodist Church area near Buchanan saw seven foot piles while the 6 and 10 Cent Store awning collapsed. Shore Drive’s sea wall was torn away and roads filled with pebbles and 5 foot drifts. Rail service largely returned by Monday evening after shoveling efforts. the Point Shirley line resumed late Monday.

League Meeting Endorses Candidates Amid Debate
At a Republicee League meeting in special Hall with about 166 attendees, Edgar L. Power presided. The executive committee report by Jobe C Hieees was praised and accepted. A motion to endorse candidates faced opposition but passed. five names were considered with the top three to receive endorsement. Nominees included Harry E Wright Leslie E Griffin William X Jenkins and others. A committee was appointed to distribute the decision details.
