Town aims to hear residents on more than fifty articles in the 1933 warrant. Advisors Committee will convene Monday evening at the Hearing Room Town Hall to accept reasons for and against proposed items including zoning and school committee changes.
The Legion Rifle Team competed in two evenings of matches. On Monday they faced the Commonwealth Rifle Team and on Tuesday they met the Stenehai Team, continuing their season.
The Democratic Town Committee elected officers on February 1 and named four currently listed members to the Town Committee. The tentative plan outlined aims to organize a Winter Democratic Club with broader membership, inviting interested Democrats to enroll.
Artist John Whorf and his wife Vivian escaped with their children Carol John Nancy and Michael as flames filled their Winthrop Road Brookline home last Sunday. Fire caused about 500 damage to the house and furnishings while paintings worth thousands were saved.
Donations from the First Church of Christ Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company and First National Stores push the unemployment committee toward its goal. Engineers Stanley and Grimes from Deer Island faced a perilous retrieval when Shirley Gut, a cat named Auto, became stuck during a return voyage. Despite efforts by two men and four local helpers with shovels, the car and cat were freed and returned safely to Point Shirley.
Friday evening March 3 the Young Woman's Club will present a three act play Her Step Husband at Odd Fellows Hall. The cast features Elmer Vashques Ross Gilchrist Wm Hoffman Horace Edwards Anne Mossman Mildred Leath Phyllis Edwards Leattha Middleton and Clyda Moulton. Committee chair Muriel Leath along with Sadie Somerville Jessie Davy Ethel Me Rennie and Marion Kennes coordinate the event.
All boys and girls ages six to ten are invited to the Buck Jones Rangers Club initial meeting. The gathering takes place at Winthrop Theatre on Saturday at 11:30 am.

The 1932 building report shows total estimated costs at 131 277 dollars for new buildings and alterations in Winthrop. Tim othy J. With thirty eight candidates seeking election to thirteen offices next month a tight race develops for the Board of Selectmen. Five named candidates will contest the three selectmen seats as John Ade, Leonard Atkinson, Charles A Blazo, Francis L Sheehan and William A Walsh. The Republican League backs Murray Atkinson Blazo, while Sheehan and Walsh mount stiff campaigns. Murray appears favored for re-election though victory is not assured. Atkinson’s strong prior run helps. Blazo is a newcomer with uncertain odds. Walsh campaigns actively in hopes of securing a seat. The field is expected to be highly competitive with several possible coalitions forming.
National Commander Louis A. Johnson addresses the Massachusetts Legion banquet at Copley Plaza. He urges full membership support, calls veterans service key to welfare, and criticizes erroneous cost figures for veterans benefits while stressing rehabilitation and unified civic duty.
Three rallies organized by the Non Partisan Voters League will invite all candidates for offices including Board of Selectmen Tax Collector Park Department and more. Precincts 1 2 5 meet at the Junior High School precinct 4 at Highlands Yacht Club and Beach attendees hear speakers at Point Shirley Yacht Club with coordination by committee chairs Ernest Haigh Guy Lothrop William Homan Horace Smith John Lingley and Wittian F F Dealy.
