A high mass of requiem was held for Rev James A Crowley pastor of the Church of St John the Evangelist after a long illness. The Boston archdiocese priests and Winthrop citizens attended with numerous clergy from East Boston Newton and Dorchester. The service featured Rev Dennis Donovan as celebrant and Rev John Powers deacon with Rev William Lyons as subdeacon and Rev Harry O Connor master of ceremonies.

A storm reduced visibility Tuesday morning causing a collision between two snow plows near Oak Island station. One coach overturned injuring several passengers as a Lynn to Boston train struck the plow. Two people were taken to hospital.
