Ask to Lift Ban on Digging of Clams in Winthrop Area
About twenty five local clam diggers led by Mr Hollis of the New England Shellfish Association asked the Winthrop Town Hall Board of Selectmen to urge the State Fish and Game Warden to lift the clamming ban. The state closed shores from Boston Harbor to Lynn in 1927 due to contamination. a small area near Winthrop was opened after advocacy by Hollis, Senator Brodbine, and local representatives. Tests from the area showed more than TY determined typhoid levels, prompting continued restrictions.

Legion Seek Exchange Of Town Hall Site In Town Meeting
Winthrop Post 146 of the American Legion will ask town meeting members to vote on exchanging the old Town Hall site at Pauline and Hermon streets for the Legion land on Hermon Street next to the new Town Hall site. If approved, the town will be asked to appropriate funds to move the Legion building to the new location.

Tire thieves busy report two local thefts
Ralph S. R. of 389 Pleasant Street told police a new spare tire was stolen from the rear of his Buick while it was parked in front of his home Sunday evening around 8.00. On Monday Lieut. Commander Snyder of the Navy Yard reported his own spare tire stolen from his car between 4.30 and 9.30 p.m.
