At the weekly Winthrop Board of Trade meeting Almon E. Whittemore was unanimously elected president for the coming year. Officers named include Harry Lappen as 1st vice president Benjamin F. Schreiber as 2nd vice president Russell A. Lang secretary and Dr Chas Nevers treasurer Chas A Williams was re-elected to the Board of Directors for three years A House Bill 387 hearing on hawkers and peddlers was discussed with Winthrop opposing its passage and a protest petition presented The next meeting will be a supper at the Winthrop Arms in March Mrs May Boylan of Newton hosted the H A P Club birthday luncheon and bridge honoring Mrs Margaret Lane and Mrs Gertrude Foote gifts awarded to Marguerite Natale Lillian Bouzagni and Mrs Donnelly

Commodore Norman Gray announced four smokers at the Winthrop Yacht Club headquarters on Shirley Street the evening of February 26 at 8:00 p.m. The club has updated interiors with painting, decorating, and more than $2000 in new furniture added in the last two weeks.

Waves Dash 50 Feet High at Winthrop

Local vet in effort to save Gen Edwards
Harry G. Botsford of Winthrop the YD Club drum major and 11th engineers veteran helped General Edwards at Massachusetts General Hospital. The 17 year old donor met the general in France and gave a pint of blood in a transfusion. The general, weak yet aware, whispered Carry on as Botsford saluted with his baton in a moving tribute.
