The Centre and Court Park table leadership is handled by Mrs. F. H. Foote with assistant Mesdames Fred Clark, Wm. Walsh, Fred Preble, and Wm. J. Cawthorne, under chairman J. W. Lill.
Old Foote and Ethel P Hartt committee selects two winning parade arch designs from about twenty five pupil submissions. Chair Frank K Hatfield to award prizes to Bert John Leary Eric B deMille Vivian Swenson Martha Dixon. Budget for planned events discussed at Wednesday meeting. Meanwhile August 2 is chosen for a monster parade and pageant in Winthrop.
The Winthrop Community Hospital Aid Association held its annual dancing party at Elks' Auditorium with over 360 attendees. Mrs. L W Crowell chaired the dance committee with several volunteers assisting. Mr and Mrs Eugene P Whittier were honored guests. Proceeds go to the hospital linen fund.
17 Cambridge area municipalities meet at Cambridge City Hall to create a voluntary federation aimed at cooperation rather than central control. The group intends to defend against annexation tendencies and pursue closer ties among Arlington Brookline Cambridge Chelsea and others in the Metropolitan Area. Mayors and selectmen from Cambridge Lynn Milton Quincy and Everett participate in forming this first accord of its kind in 300 years.
Chairman Barry says the Board agreed with the Metropolitan District Commission to allow trucks to use Winthrop Shore Drive with a possible right turn onto Shore Drive and proceed to the next street. Metro police had previously barred trucks on the Beach one way streets from entering Shore Drive and returning to Shirley Street, causing delivery difficulties.
The state Department of Public Utilities delays the proposed fare increase for the Boston Revere Beach and Lynn Railroad to March 10. The company had sought to implement the higher rates beginning Monday.
Monday evening the Board heard residents at the southerly end near Hawthorne and Crest avenues about widening Revere Street. After remarks, it was evident all in attendance supported the plan.
A public hearing will be held at the Point Shirley Yacht Club on Sunday February 16 at 3 p m to engage precinct 3 citizens in securing a playground for Beach district children. A land plot between Taft avenue and the harbor is offered for purchase and sponsors will seek town meeting approval for the appropriation. Citizens are urged to attend.

A Republican League rally at Odd Fellows Hall Tuesday February 18 will endorse a full town slate. Tibbetts Churchill and Newton are expected to receive endorsements for the Board of Selectmen. Speakers include Leverett Saltstonstall and Joseph War.
