Marblehead High opens the 1944 grid season September 23 at home against Marblehead opponent Marblehead High and visits Winchester High on October 7. The Mystic Valley League shakeup may add two more opponents October 12 and 28, dropping Woburn Wakefield Watertown. The 10 game slate includes Danvers Swampscott Chelsea Melrose at home and Gloucester Revere away. Captain Dick Wallace leads a 14 man first squad in Tuesday workouts.

He earned Oak Leaf Clusters and a Purple Heart for a sight wound during the Stuttgart raid. The Eighth Army Air Force praises bomber crews who recently earned Awards of Merit from the RAF and the Prime Minister.
