Community Hospital Joins Associated Hospital Service
The Winthrop Community Hospital trustees voted to join the Associated Hospital Service of Massachusetts. Subscriptions provide 21 hospital days per year, semi private rooms, use of operating and delivery rooms, anesthesia costs up to 10 per admission, routine tests, obstetrical care after 11 months, and discounts. Rates are 10 for individuals, 17 for couples, and 22 for a family of two adults with children under 19.

MIT Professor to Study Winthrop Transportation Long Term

Officer Kurland Rescues Woman From Local Fire
Patrolman David Kurland rescued Mrs. Lottie Shaw 50 of 162 Shirley Rd from a daytime blaze last Tuesday. He entered the smoke filled home, removed a flaming rug, and helped Mrs. Shaw escape to safety while both were treated at Winthrop Community Hospital for burns. The department later found Kurland fighting the fire with a borrowed extinguisher as a dramatization of the rescue aired on Five Star Final at 7 15 p m.
