Water carnival and yacht club jamboree recap
The Winthrop Highlands Association hosted a water carnival at the association pier on Saturday August 22 with judges timers and announcer. The Winthrop Yacht Club held a three night jamboree with booths prize gives and a popularity vote led by Miss Dorothy Downes and Miss Dorothy Jacobs. Prizes included cash awards up to 250 and a Packard model car for a Sharon resident.

Mrs. Belle A. Floyd won a $10 gold prize in a slogan contest for the Winthrop Community Hospital Building Fund Campaign. The committee also awarded $5 to Rev. Ralph M. Harper for Open Your Heart, with plans by Stevens & Lee Architects for future hospital construction. July admissions topped 105 with 932 hospital days and 35 patients as peak occupancy.
