The Board of Assessors chaired by William F. Abely with William E. Remby and John W. Fielding announced after a Tuesday meeting that the 1944 tax rate is set at 27.60 per thousand dollars of valuation. This marks a 60 cent increase over last year’s 27.00 per thousand.
The Richard F. Metcalf Post of Veterans of Foreign Wars invites the public to the joint installation of officers at their new post quarters Wadsworth Hall Metcalf Square Sunday April 30 at 2 30 pm. New Commander Lincoln D Hatch has a busy welfare year ahead as a drive to raise 1500000 progresses nationwide with a required 10 per member from every post to aid World War II veterans.
