Winthrop Theatre Cooking School Announces May Sessions

Under Miss Lucille Morton, noted home economist and Spry Research Kitchen representative in Cambridge, the Winthrop Theatre Cooking School will run three Tuesdays May 9 May 16 and May 23 at 1 00 p m with the regular screen program. Irving Alexander announces no price change and plans full demonstrations of light cakes pastry and economical foods.

Hildreth to Be Honor Guest at Popular Authors Club

Mrs. H W Hildreth, president of the Massachusetts State Federation, will be the guest of honor at the Popular Authors Literary Club meeting. The program includes a reading of A Puritan in Babylon by William Allen White reviewed by Miss Helen L Frasier and selections read by Mrs Alen E Newton. Service April 30 For Masonic Lodge

The Winthrop Masonic lodge will hold a worship service at St. John's Episcopal Church on Sunday morning April 30 in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of George Washington's accession to the presidency. Rev. Ralph M. Harper, the lodge chaplain, will lead the observance as part of a nationwide Masonic appreciation of Washington.

Town Reports Reveal Automotive Expenditures and Key Department Totals

The annual town report shows 1938 spending on automotive needs totaling 14 225 80 with 5096 76 for truck hire and 9129 04 for gasoline and repairs. The highway department led in gasoline and repairs at 3375 49 ahead of police 2105 16 while snow removal and sewer also show notable truck hire and engineering costs. The Park department spent 264 50 on engineering services as part of broader detail to be clarified in the full report.

Red Cross Plans Special Program At Winthrop Meeting

Red Cross held an Executive Board session in Winthrop Town Hall on April 12 at 8. Mrs. Carl S. Floyd chaired with Mrs. Geo. GC. Proctor as secretary pro tem. A report on the Junior Red Cross Convention praised school interest in the 180000 enrollment and Easter cards to Chelsea Naval Hospital. Helen Tarbox invited participation in June 8 Home Hygiene Graduation Exercises. May meeting will feature a special program. Dorothy B. Hall will attend as guest and Ernest Bentley will speak.

First W H S Baseball Aggregation Since 1936 Opens Season

The High School baseball program at Ingleside resumes after decades as Coach Bob Perry leads a largely untested squad in the Mystic Valley League opener at Watertown. Weather has delayed outdoor practice, with May 8 slated for home opener at Ingleside Park against Wo burn, as Perry laments a slow start this spring.
