Veterans Council Formation Planned in Winthrop

Representatives from the Spanish War Veterans Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion met the Board of Selectmen to discuss Memorial Day exercises and veterans welfare. The Winthrop Veterans Council will be formed from these groups to coordinate plans and affairs for all local veterans.

Officers and members gathered at the Winthrop Golf Club clubhouse for a Wednesday night smoker to discuss plans for the 1935 season. President John S. Hill led the meeting outlining events, with committee chairmen reporting on activities and goals as attendance was strong and interest high.

Free anti rabies clinic treats 92 and 116 dogs in Winthrop

Under Dr B 8 Killian and two assistants 92 dogs were treated Monday and 116 on Tuesday at Edward B Newton School in a Winthrop Board of Health effort to immunize dogs against rabies. The free clinic ran the first four days of the week to stamp out rabies in Winthrop.

Golfers Will Open Season on Patriot's Day

Galt Chir will officially open its 1935 golf season on Patriot's Day April 19 with two opener tournaments the Patriot's Day event and the McLaughlin Ringer series running through October 12. Additional events include the Governors Trophy on April 26 27 28 and the McLaughlin Trophy May 17 18 19.
