New V F W Post To Install Officers
The Richard F Metcalf Post No 1664 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will install its officers at 3:00 PM at the Elks Home on Washington Avenue. The Organization Committee includes Albert T Hayes Henry L Tenry and James H Sheerin. George A Dillboy Post of Somerville will assist with the installation. James H Foren will head the ceremony with the State and Department officers. Attendees will include all Suffolk County VFW posts and Eugen P Carver Jr national commander. Fort Banks Post will also be present.

Storms lash Winthrop coast with fierce tides and debris
A 50 mile northeast gale and a raw sleet storm flood Winthrop Shore Drive with an 11 foot tide, inundating basements and sweeping sand and wreckage along the boulevard. A second, stronger storm drops a 60 mile gale and a foot tide, widening flood areas and forcing continued cleanup into the week as trains contend with water in East Boston tunnels.
