Selectmen and District Chief study recommendations of the fire department report at Town Hall Monday evening. Chief Good faced close questioning on his recommendations. No action is known yet on Town Meeting appropriations for the needed funds.
Henry I. Harriman, chairman of the Boston Elevated trustees, spoke at the Boston City Club to the newly formed North Shore Suburban Municipal Federation. The group includes mayors, selectmen, and chamber presidents north of Boston aiming to coordinate legislative impact.
Report shows condition of Winthrop Trust Company Winthrop Massachusetts at close of business March 27 1929 rendered to the Commissioner of Commerce. It lists reserves currency and specie 3.69 percent deposits in reserve banks 6.76 percent and U S and Massachusetts bonds 6 percent. Savings department figures include 270 083 68 23 830 00 37 241 45 44905 19. Harry W Aiken treasurer and directors named.
At a Town Hall meeting the Board of Selectmen opened five bids for ashes collection. They reserved decision at bid opening and later awarded the contract to Belcher at 52 Lincoln Street for 11,008 dollars.

John F. Daily, a representative of the Supreme Council, will address members of two Massachusetts councils during the week of April 15. He arrives in Winthrop on April 17 and will meet Quincy Council the next day, marking the first host visit in a year as the Supreme Council travels to advise and gather input from over 2,000 subordinate councils worldwide.
A man tours town homes offering linen to housewives. He shows good linen samples, takes an order, retrieves a wrapped package from his bag, and vanishes in his car. Purchasers later discover they bought cheap cotton cloth instead of linen.

Thieves broke into the residence at 83 W Shore Drive Sunday afternoon using a false key. Jewelry money furs and clothing were stolen with total value about 1537. owners believe the loss is insured.
Chairman Henry J. Barry and mayors from Revere Chelsea and others push a plan to join with Middlesex for tubercular hospital care. The district currently pays 17.50 per patient weekly at Rutland State Hospital, with counties urged to build own facilities.
