The second death in Company A 2nd Virginia Regiment is Private W B Bar of Berryville. He died at Camp Cuba Libre Jacksonville Fla Sunday afternoon after sixteen days of illness from typhoid fever. He was 21, enlisted in June, and his remains reached Berryville last Wednesday. The funeral was held Thursday morning at the Baptist Church with Privates Grim Kremer Henry Leafe and Lindsay Leafe in attendance.
In Mount Hebron and Stonewall Cemeteries lie soldiers from 1776 through the Spanish aging era. General Daniel Morgan is buried first, followed by War of 1812 veterans, Mexican War veterans, and countless Civil War heroes. The latest interments are Ernest Grim and John R. Steele, two youths who enlisted though never sent to active duty.
Surviving members of the 104th New York Regiment plan to erect a granite monument in the National Cemetery this city this fall. The tribute will honor comrades who died in the Civil War and rest in the cemetery. Estimated cost about $5,000. C. E. Hoover holds the foundation contract and will begin soon.

He fought near Santiago July 1 2 and 3 and was uninjured. The town notes more U S soldiers in Winchester now than since 1861 as the Second Virginia Regiment nears muster out.
Charles Barnett a principal musician in the Regimental Band of the 25th Infantry United States Army is at his Winchester home on furlough. He helped in Cuba participating in engagements at El Caney Hill of San Juan and Santiago and is noted for aiding Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. Barnett has served since 1888 and now rests.
The Sarah Zane Fire Company was the first to march over the paved Main Street portion between Piccadilly and Water streets for the funeral obsequies of the late John Kk. Steele. Captain Robert L. Gray originated the improvement fueling this ceremonial procession.
Miss Lillian Lewis daughter of Mr and Mrs John K Lewis hosted a Friday night gathering at her Braddock street home. Guests enjoyed games and late evening refreshments with attendees including Emma McVicar Nellie Diffenderfer Vera Richards Oscar Lewis and several gentlemen.

Mr. M. W. Anderson and his son from Jericho county were ride to town when the horse kicked. The buggy front was smashed. Mr. Anderson cut above the right eye and bruised in arms and leg. His son felt chest soreness but no visible injuries. They received care at Dr. Jno. S. Luptos' residence.
