Woollen Mill Burns Near Winchester in Fire Blaze
Williams Brothers woollen mill on Millwood road near the toll gate one mile from Winchester was destroyed by fire around 5 o clock yesterday morning. The three story frame building with sixteen workers and new machinery burned to ashes, costing about $18,000 with only $2,000 insured. Firemen arrived quickly but could not save the structure, with investigators citing spontaneous combustion as the likely cause.

A North Carolina born man Yarrick W. Harris formed the Help Yourselves Club to scare wealthy men into giving funds. He and six partners mailed threats to Charles B. Rouss and others, hoping to secure money before Christmas. Police captured Harris at Bowery lodging No. 49 after the plot was uncovered. Harris asserts the scheme aimed to frighten, not injure, but he was jailed as a vagrant.
