Arrangements nearly complete for the Marion county teachers institute to run August 27 to 31 at Miller school. Instructors include J W Jewell of the University of Arkansas C H Winkler from West Virginia University extension J A Jackson city superintendent of Clarksburg and Miss Jessie Ice primary supervisor at Fairmont Normal school A reception Monday night and an entertainment Thursday in the Miller school auditorium are planned. The music supervisor position remains to be filled.
Berlin reports a German statement noting renewed Russian activity near Galicia and along the Lemberg Brody railway. A strong Russian fire is described as ongoing near Brzezany, with threats and movements observed.
A young man suffered a arm injury while operating machinery near the sea. He was taken to Cook Hospital where the wound was dressed and treated.
In Fairmont churches tomorrow patriotic notes will be observed in services. At First Methodist, Senator Meredith and others will give patriotic addresses during the morning service. Christian church programs declare a political character with talks by Mrs. Brett, Josh Fe aler, and Captain Kemble White. Dr. Carter Fleming will sing at the evening service as churches feature flag and Red Cross messages and mobilization themes.
The Woodmen of the World and Woodmen Circle will unveil monuments on the graves of deceased members. Alice C. Morgan at Maple Grove and George M. Lilley at Woodlawn have already markers, with ceremonies planned tomorrow. Procession forms at 1 30 pm from the hall, reaching Maple Grove at 2 15 pm, then Woodlawn at 3 30 pm with orations by Rev. Webb and Rev. Smith and poems by Jessie Vandervort and DeLoyd Philips. Public invited.
John Joqui, Austrian aged 9, and Louis Mann, Italian aged 12, faced Mayor Bowen after being caught stealing American flags from McCrorey's Five and Ten. They testified others threatened to beat them if they refused. Mayor Bowen and City Clerk Kern dismissed the case following their discussion.
Mrs Tony Zanko, a Russian resident of Dakota aged 26, died Thursday at Cook hospital after an illness from typhoid fever. Funeral services are set for Sunday afternoon with interment at Maple Grove cemetery. The body lies at Williamson morgue.
Thomas Montgomery died this morning at Cook hospital where he had been treated for dropsy. He was 86 and a son of J. M. Montgomery of Montana. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at his parents home.
New York Stock Exchange committee on securities authorizes listing of MV Traction Company $2,420,000 6 percent cumulative preferred stock in exchange for outstanding $2,787,100 5 percent cumulative preferred stock of Kanawha Traction and Electric and $8,289,000 common stock in exchange for $7,188,861 common. Authority to add $530,000 preferred and $3,711,000 common brings total to $4,000,000 preferred and $12,900,000 common.
Paris reports the armored cruiser Kleber struck a mine off Port St. Matthieu on Wednesday and sank. Three officers and 35 sailors perished. The vessel had sailed from Dakar, Africa, en route to Brest.
Captain Orville Noll of the Valley Gem appoints Austin Wilson to supervise Fairmont river traffic. Wilson will build a riverbank office and manage shipments in and out, taking charge today after a week of announcements. The Valley Gem arrived at seven, ready to return at nine after delays caused by coal shortages.
John Mobrey arrested on Water street by Chief Hart for disorderly conduct and drinking. He confessed intoxication and paid a $5 fine. He said he bought whiskey from A. J. Rodgers on Pennsylvania avenue. Rodgers was arrested but released due to lack of evidence.
Camden N J June 30 Another monster fighting machine for the navy took water here today from the yards of the New York Shipbuilding company when the superdreadnaught Idaho sister to the Pennsylvania flagship of the Atlantic fleet was launched Henrietta Aurelia Simmons granddaughter of Governor Alexander of Idaho was sponsor for the ship and because of war conditions the general public was not admitted to the ceremony which was witnessed by a small group of navy ex interceptors and company officials
Beginning tomorrow a post office branch will operate at the First Regiment camp with mail deliveries three times daily except Sundays when two runs are made. The branch mirrors Monongah and Watson offices, with a civil service‑experienced manager handling money orders and registered letters. If weather permits tomorrow afternoon, locals and visitors will join soldiers for the day’s events, including dress parade, a band concert, and a formal guard mount at six. Jas W. Kight of the YMCA will speak at morning services.

Washington June 30 The Senate Finance committee approved a revised war tax bill raising corporation partnership and individual rates from 12 to 40 percent. The increased excess profits taxes would yield about 730 million dollars, boosting total revenue to about 1.655 billion dollars and likely avoiding further revision.

Margaretta Barreli aged 10 months daughter of Frank Barreli a New England merchant died last night at her parents home of pneumonia. Funeral services will be held from the Italian church at New England Sunday at 8 o clock with Rev Merteranna officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross cemetery by undertaker Williamson.
Mr and Mrs John Murray of this city departed today for Pittsburgh and Wheeling and other points for a two weeks visit showcasing travel plans and family ties during the trip.
