49 More Miners Ordered Evicted From Brady Coal Homes
Morgantown June 12 Forty nine union miners were ordered evicted from houses owned by the Brady Coal Company at its mine here. Magistrate S A Posten heard the cases with an agreed statement of facts. Miners appealed to the Circuit Court posting bonds of 150 dollars each for possible damages. They claimed thirty days’ notice was not given as required by statute. The company said contracts allowed eviction five days after work ceased. Previously thirty four other miners were ordered evicted last week and also appealed with similar bonds. The company said it wanted the houses for workers under openshop conditions.
