Lone Negro Holds Up Whole Gang

Yesterday afternoon at one o'clock in broad daylight a negro working with a railroad gang at Murray held up about thirty workers with a gun and took from them about 58 dollars. He fled over the hills as bloodhounds were sent from the city, but no capture yet. In Monongah two stores were robbed of suits and other articles by foreigners. bloodhounds also pursued but no definite clue.

Personal workers turn out at lunch at YMCA event

Fifty four personal workers attended the noon luncheon at the YMCA while evangelistic services continue at First Methodist church. Cases Disposed of in Intermediate Court

In Intermediate court this morning a jury was placed to decide City of Fairmont v Quy Lee but was dismissed to allow motions to quash the warrant. Long Powder and Supply Co v Fairmont Fuel Co continued by agreement. Bt Albans Glass Co v Universal Products Co settled after a jury was in the box. C B Frum v Town of Rivesaville resulted in $207 with interest for the plaintiff. No defendant appearance. The court is disposing cases rapidly.

Special Dispatch reports in Charleston that the Steptoe gas bill was slated for first reading today but, with unfinished business carried over, likely will be postponed to Thursday. A bid to suspend rules failed 12 to 8, showing potential support yet requiring a two thirds vote for suspension.

Sturgiss Defense Begins Evidence in Official Misconduct Case

Charleston, W Va Feb 5 After cross examination of prosecution witnesses the defense for Judge George C Sturgiss Monongalia Circuit Court charged with official misconduct will begin presenting evidence before the House Judiciary committee. Morgantown men and leading Monongalia citizens are lined up as witnesses as defense continues to prepare a complete transcript of the prior testimony.

Father and Son Week Observed in Fairmont

A national Father and Son Week promoted by the Y M C A will be observed in Fairmont from February 11 to 17. The Fairmont Y M C A boys department plans extensive events including a central banquet February 11 at 6 pm with a Pittsburgh speaker potentially. The observing committee led by G H Colebank includes Dr H L Satterfield Dr Howard W E Buckey and Prof Otis Wilson. Sunday February 16 is set for church attendance with endorsement from the Ministerial Association.

Mrs Amy Hess Buried This Afternoon

Mrs Amy Hess died Monday at her son's home and funeral services were conducted by Ensign John O Bierne of the Salvation Army at her brother EH Clayton residence. She was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery by Musgrave and Son undertakers. A Salvation Army member she worked in charity drives including Christmas dinner funds.

Parker Funeral Thursday Held for Jay C Parker

Funeral services for Jay C Parker will be held Thursday morning at 10 30 oclock at the Highland avenue MB church. Burial will follow in Jones Seeay with undertaker Jones directing proceedings.

Home After Service in Canadian Army

Wiley V. Currey, who served with the Canadian army in France, has returned home to Benton's Ferry after an honorable discharge. He spent over a year in heavy fighting, was gassed, and later was in England. On returning to Canada he survived a wreck between St Johns and Montreal that destroyed a troop train, but he was not injured.

Rescue teams aided a scholar trapped as a South Side pub fire broke out, firefighters evacuating the area and ensuring the safety of onlookers before the blaze was brought under control.
