Graduates Celebrate 24th Annual State Normal Exercises
Over 150 graduates of the State Normal School received diplomas at the twenty fourth annual commencement in the auditorium yesterday morning. The program opened with the academic march and an orchestra overture, with several student theses read by Margaret F. Jones, Louise Bublitz, and Alodia Schumacher. Rev. Willard Lyon gave the opening prayer, and Lewis F. Crawford was unable to attend due to travel conditions. President McFarland addressed the class as diplomas were awarded along with copies of Morning Thoughts to Cheer the Day. The list of graduates spans numerous departments including music, domestic science, manual training, and elementary courses, with many names from Valley City, Bismarck, and surrounding areas named among the graduates and candidates for August and December 1916.
