Fred Wheaton of Minneapolis appears likely to be nominated on the Democratic ticket after 1733 of 3119 precincts reporting. McDonald notes 35 years’ residence with no finer crop prospects, winter rye promising early harvest, most land cultivated, little land left for summer fallow. Farm residences appear improved along with thriving farms.

St Paul June 19 With 2279 of 3119 precincts reporting C A Lindbergh trails as J A A Burnquist leads 167 923 to 117 755. Minneapolis returns place J E Myers tops the field with 1240 votes over Van Lear the Socialist who will oppose Meyer in the fall.
St Paul report states the national nonpartisan league may send a single congressman, physician Henrik Shipstead, likely nominated over incumbent A. J. Volstead in the seventh district. The league’s lone in-congress member remains J. M. Baer, North Dakota cartoonist. Other races show W. Newton opposing Ernest Lundeen, with late returns indicating Fred Wheaton narrowly ahead of W. L. Comstock for the Democratic nomination.
Grace Lusk travels by car from Waukesha to Waupun to begin a 19 year term for the murder of Mrs. Mary Newton Roberts. The event marks a major turn in a high profile case as the sentence is carried out in Wisconsin.
