Valley City State Teachers College Emerges From Normal School Roots
The Valley City institution, North Dakota’s only state teachers college, transformed from a two year normal school to a four year college under a 1910s legislative shift. It now offers a BA in Education and a life valuable first grade professional certificate after nine months teaching. The campus spans over 50 acres in the Sheyenne valley with twelve buildings, a growing library of 19 000 volumes, and a full training school serving as a laboratory for future educators.
