Plans submitted for new church building in Valley City

At a special Building committee meeting of First Congregational church plans for a new edifice were adopted with changes. Eugene McFarland, son of George A McFarland, designed the building to rise at Sixth Avenue and Fifth Street. The plan includes a pipe organ, modern Sunday school rooms, a gymnasium in the basement, a visitors balcony, lockers and showers, a kitchen and social room, and a large dining area. The church aims to be open seven days a week with the open church concept. The project values the property at about 50000 dollars and anticipates a central location serving business interests.

Rogers Defeats Valley City at Ball Park 10 to 3

Missionary society convention set for June at Epworth Church

The Home Missionary Society of the M. B. church conference will hold its convention at Epworth Methodist church on June 11 and 12. Further announcements will be made later. Dorothy Baker of Cooperstown won first in the girls section of the inter-high school declamation contest at the Normal School, with Miss Turner of Fargo second and Miss Warner of Minnewaukon third.

Dems Organize Knudson Club in Cass County

About 50 Democrats met at the Metro Polo hotel Fargo to form a Knudson for Governor club. W. P. Porterfield was elected president with W. J. Letford as secretary and treasurer. Valley City High School Alumni Annual Banquet Report

Last Friday evening the Valley City High School Alumni held their annual banquet at the Kindred hotel with eighty or more members attending. The program featured "Then and Now" by W. T. Craswell and Harold Mayer, "Looking Forward" by Amy Gray-Roberts, "Faculty Advice" by Warren Hanna, and "Knowledge Comes But Wisdom Lingers" by Prof. Hanna. Mrs. Roberts was absent, with her past presented by T. S. Henry. The Relief Corps met last evening, initiating two members, and a G. A. R. convention report by Mrs. Frank Codding preceded refreshments and social hour.

Storstad Detained In Empress of Ireland Collision

Montreal report notes the Empress of Ireland collision casualty timeline. Storstad arrives under her own steam to Montreal with 11,000 tons coal aboard and is placed under detention by the Canadian Pacific Railway in Quebec admiralty court.
