Death of Harry H. Hoagland in California automobile crash
Mrs. Allie Jeffers reports the death of her nephew, Corporal Harry H. Hoagland, 530 Chestnut avenue, former Valley City resident and Long Beach Poly high school graduate. Killed when a six-soldier car overturned on a state highway near the Orange San Diego line. Hoagland, a snare drummer and later corporal in the 47th Field Artillery at Camp Kearny, died of a crushed hip and internal injuries. His body was sent to Camp Kearny hospital. a board of inquiry will hear the case. He leaves his parents in Belbert Court, grief-stricken.

Hoagland Corpsman Dies En Route Homeward
Corporal Hoagland, born June 15 1896 in Cedar Falls Iowa, died while traveling to surprise his parents with a visit and in conjunction with his advancement to corporal. Funeral services are set for Wednesday at 2 PM from McFadden undertaking parlors in the city. He belonged to the First Church of Christ Scientist.
