The September session 1875 of the Police Jury met at the Lake Charles Courthouse with President Lyons and members. The body elected J. Suet eae for one year, appointed Wm L Hutchins parish treasurer, granted a public road from Slaydon’s Ford toward the Military road, and named commissioners to lay out routes. They changed routes near Shon pique Bayou, considered extending the Big Woods road, and set overseers for roads including Tyler, Gilley, and Sellers. An adjournment to tomorrow at 8 a.m. was voted.
The State faces a dog tax revenue of 306000 last year and suggests pairing it with in rem indemnities to sheep owners for losses caused by dogs.
