Judge J M Sandlin rules that a F school land lessee holds a valid preference right to purchase all lands under lease and that penalties for waiving excess lands are void. County Judge Frear Endorses Probation Reforms

County Judge Frear issues an opinion and final order in the Charity Commissioner case against Craig county commissioners. They must provide a secure juvenile detention facility outside jail and appoint a probation officer by the first December meeting. Frear advocates probation laws as humane reform enabling rehabilitation of first offenders and better citizenry.

Church quartet burglars leave hospitality after warm welcome

W C Davis and wife returned from church to find their Vinita home the scene of a benevolent burglary. A group from the church had entered with refreshments, stayed for hours, and left the memory of a pleasant evening, with Davis ready to defend his home if needed.

Mrs. Schenck Pleads Not Guilty in Murder Case

In Wheeling West Virginia Mrs Laura Farnsworth Schenk pleads not guilty to indictments alleging attempted murder of her husband and also filed six special pleas challenging the legality of her detention and the grand jury. She also entered a formal not guilty plea to the indictments.

Crippen Hanged This Morning in London

Crippen, the noted murderer, was hanged at 9 02 am in the yard of Pentonville prison. The case drew wide interest in England and America. Crippen, once a Michigan-born physician, killed his wife Belle Elmore, dismembered her body, and fled with Miss Le Neve to Canada and across the Atlantic.
