A fire began in a rubbish pile at the rear of Chapman's drug store and spread to the Woodall grocery and meat market ware room. It threatened the block until the fire department arrived, aided by a horse at a brick smith shop. A frame window in Sandere-Wright store burned and some wall damage to Woodall ware, with total losses around fifty dollars.
