Tulsa, June 20. H. L. Levy sues J. W. Orr for 10000 dollars alleging words fool thief and lat were uttered by Orr in the presence of witnesses C. D. Kellman and W. H. Thompson damaging Levy’s reputation and business integrity. Orr is president of the First National Bank of Tulsa and identified with Oklahoma banks.
The Associated Press reports figures from five hundred TB cases showing community costs of $31,072,256 and living costs of $42,912, total community loss $72,984 for the group. The Denver article notes per person and per case costs as cited by speakers at the National Association for the Study and Prevention of Tuberculosis.
At ten o'clock last night Mrs Blanche Crutchfield and Mr Arthur Rodman united in marriage at the bride’s home on North Thompson street. Rev J E Pershing of Lawton officiated. The couple will tour Kansas City then return to Vinita to housekeeping. The bride, daughter of Mrs B C Oborn, is a Vinita society favorite. The groom came from Pierce City Missouri four years ago and is a respected local businessman with many friends.
Philadelphia promoters and Frank B Ufer plan a six round Morris Flynn fight without a referee decision if arrangements can be made. Carl Morris and Jim Flynn both back the bout and Flynn declined a $1500 forfeit, awaiting Philadelphia terms and training in Kansas City.
Guthrie Oklahoma June 20 final court papers signed Monday at Kingfisher transferring from district court there to the United States district court here in the case of the State Banking Board vs. the Peoples National Bank of Kingfisher which changed from a state to a national bank on March 18. The banking board had recently started suit to collect the 1 percent guaranty assessment against average daily deposits to replenish the state banks guaranty fund. The Kingfisher bank is among nineteen nationalized banks. The amount assessed is 2490.99. Removal bond fixed at 500. The suit contends the bank is no longer a state bank and the guaranty assessment action is taking its property without due process. The matter now lies before the federal court.
London June 22 King George VI the fifty eighth descendant of the House of Hanover was crowned at Westminster Abbey with Queen Mary in a pageant of ancient rites. Crowds cheered as the royal procession moved from Buckingham Palace to the Abbey. The ceremony featured the archbishop’s anointing, the crowning, and the presentation of the Holy Bible amid imperial robes and banners. The queen wore a robe of cloth of gold. the king wore crimson robes and a purple ceremonial gown. Outside, the city transformed with color as spectators gathered from around the world to witness the coronation.
Postmaster General Hitchock announced the establishment of fifty postal savings banks with 800 total deposits revolved. Banks to open July 22 include Camden Arkansas and Mangum Oklahoma, as part of a nationwide expansion announced in Washington.
