Supreme Court rules on Indian land suit rights
In a decision from Washington, April 2, the Supreme Court upheld government authority to sue in Indian land cases involving United States against P B Heckman and Senator Robert L Owen. The court held the government may extend restrictions on Indian lands and sue in the Indians name without consent, while Indians need not be parties. The case originated in Oklahoma with 30,000 transactions and 15,000 defendants.

Council Refuses White Petition at Jetty City Meeting
At the regular monthly meeting the jetty council refused Captain G S White's petition to withdraw his Marrs addition property from the city, reversing a prior action that allowed Dr EB Prayser to withdraw property. The council also discussed street drainage, and due to a street and bridge fund shortage, only urgent work could proceed. An ordinance allocating about $1000 from the Water fund to cover old warrants from 1909 and 1910 passed, clearing water department indebtedness except current quarter expenses with hopes of lowering rates. The meeting marked the end of the current council’s term as four members will retire and a new four member board will take office May 1.

Bank Guaranty Fund Shows $29000 Balance In Oklahoma City
Oklahoma City April 4 There is the credit of the state bank guaranty fund 29004.89 in cash as shown by a statement issued last night by F G Dennis treasurer of the state banking board covering three months ending March 21. The December report showed cash amounting to 61119 to which was added 16444 from banks of assessment and 12450.11 collected on assets of failed banks making the total resources for the quarter 10518.56. Among the collections were Oklahoma State Bank Durant 1721 Columbia Bank and Trust company 197.94 Citizens bank Mountain Park 5000 Creek Bank and Trust company Sapulpa 1000 and State Guaranty bank Watonga 4886.04. The last three were on bonds given to the state. Disbursements show heavy payments from the fund on account of previous bank failures and the amounts are in addition to those shown in the last statement. The board paid out 45244.48 on account of the Night and Day bank of Oklahoma City and 10135 on account of the Alamo State bank of Muskogee. Other disbursements owing to bank failures included Citizens' State Covington 1268 State bank Calumet 195000 First State Mefer 200 Bank of Ochelate 50 Columbian Bank and Trust company 400 Platers and Merchants bank Oklahoma City 710 Creek Bank and Trust Sapulpa 1689 Bank of Snyder 25 and State Guaranty bank Watonga 5000 making a total of 69628.24
