A two day teachers institute will be held in Watertown High School on Friday and Saturday March 5 and 6. Supt M C Potter of Milwaukee will lecture Friday evening free to all. Teachers in the counties and city are urged to attend and to close schools without loss of time. Door and room board inquiries go to Miss Marie Killian before March 2.

Albert Fuermann purchases the Orpheum from Jerome Kostermann and assumes control with his son Raymond joining as co manager Riz will play piano and manage the show. Improvements planned include an upgraded ventilating system. Kostermann leaves after two years in Watertown amid friends’ best wishes for his future.
A quip from the Boston Transcript ponders Aladdin after the lamp fable. The line jokes that he may rub again to test reality and see if the palace merely formed in a dream.
Ida Wolf of Watertown visited over Sunday with her parents Mr and Mrs Fred Albrecht and children Mayta and Fred who visited relatives in Minneapolis. Della Raatz spent Sunday with Lydia Albrecht. Frances Birkholz spends the week in Watertown. Percy Schultz spent the week with friends here. Mr and Mrs F Krueger were surprised by many friends at their home last Friday and will move to Watertown. Mrs Aug Wendt Milford and other callers joined Walter Albrecht. A crowd of young folks enjoyed a gathering at the Albrecht home Thursday. Elmer West spent Friday in Lake Mills. Albert Heitz has recovered and is out again. Herbert Birkholz is on the sick list. Miss Anna Heitz of Watertown visited here during the week.
The Wisconsin National Bank celebrated its semi centennial on Saturday with a review of changes since its founding. Early leaders were W. M. Dennis president and Daniel Jones vice president, Peter V. Brown cashier, directors Henry Mulberger and Charles Jacobi. Subsequent presidents included Jones, Fred Miller, and currently W. F. Voss. The bank has steadily increased capital and is regarded as one of the state’s safest financial institutions. Current officers are President Wm. F. Voss, Vice President A. Solliday, Cashier R. M. Hahn, Assistant Cashier H. G. Grube.

Edward Gnatzig has received notification of his appointment by the Director of the Census as special agent to assist in the canvass for the census of manufactures for 1914. His district covers Jefferson county with headquarters in Watertown. Compensation ranges from 3 to 4.50 dollars per day plus traveling expenses and a per diem when outside the city. He is described as exceptionally well fitted and will perform duties conscientiously.

C B Adams helps T C Roberts move to Water town. Will Rhoda shipped fifteen pure bred cows to Mt Horeb. Mrs Chas Fornerook returns from Milwaukee. Eugene Cain of Iowa visited John Quinn and family this week.
