The paper is printed and published every Thursday by George Sweeney. The subscription price is two dollars per year with one dollar due at signup and the second due at six months. No subscriber is discontinued for arrears until paid. Subscriptions by post incur postage charges.
Corrected list of United States branch banks including New Hampshire Boston Worcester Springfield and Providence notes. Rhode Island and Connecticut banks such as Middletown Derby Bridgeport and Hartford Banks are cited with listed cities and counties. New York City Albany Schenectady Troy and Mohawk region banks are named with several towns and branches.
Flax and wool will be received in payment for newspapers at this office. Wood or grain at market prices will be accepted from Mil ton area subscribers at Montgomery Sweney's still house in Milton for Watchman dues. Subscribers who wish to pay in produce should send it in as soon as convenient.
The sheriff of Columbia County issues public notice of the general election as required by the act of the Pennsylvania Assembly dated February 7 1799. The notice identifies the officers to be elected and directs electors to appear. The proclamation names Sheriff Andrew M Reynolds and announces the election duties for the county.
The notice lists polling sites across several townships for the October election in Columbia County. It specifies polling locations such as Bloom Township Bloomsti ge Briay Creek. Berwick. Derry Limestone. Washington Cartabissa. Catawissas Fishing Creek. Greenwood. Henlock. Liberty. Liberty. Mahoning. Madison. Jersey Town. Mount Pleasant. Sugarloaf. It designates one Governor, two General Assembly members, one Commissioner, and an Auditor to be elected by freemen. It sets inspector selection by ballot on October 3 prior to the first Tuesday in October and mandates inspector duties beginning at 9 a.m. It references an April 2 1821 act requiring separate tickets for each office and notes a storefront sale of flaxseed oil at Brobsts Mill near Catawissa with payment in cash or barter, dated August 20 1823 Joseph Bropst.
Public notice outlines election rules under the 1821 act and 1822 amendments. It details duties of sheriffs jurors and officers, return procedures for Columbia county districts, and requirements to transmit certified election returns to the secretary of the commonwealth. Produce of every description and marketing generally will be taken in payment for the Watchman. To accommodate gentlemen at a distance from Danville who wish to patronize the paper, places will be appointed where produce will be received for papers.
All persons with claims against the estate of William Hutchison, surveyor, deceased of Limestone and Turbut townships, must present accounts properly attested for settlement. Those indebted should pay promptly. The administrator Wm. dl. Welch will meet at the house of Robert Shearer in Limestone township in the forenoon and at the house of James Cummings in Washington in the afternoon on September 26 to examine accounts and settle. If not settled, proceedings will move to collection after October.

May 14 1823. Wheat rye corn oats or malt wanted at Watchman office from those in arrears.
