In Front Royal the Chamber of Commerce forum drew about 35 attendees at the Warren County Government Center on Oct. 2 as six of seven council candidates answered seven preselected questions. Incumbents Parker and Tharpe seek re election. Tennett missed the event due to illness. Ratigan spoke on his behalf.

BB gun on school bus sparks new Airsoft incident
In Front Royal Virginia on October 7 a Warren County middle school student pulled an Airsoft pistol from a backpack and brandished it on Bus No 41. The bus driver intervened and removed the unloaded weapon before any injury. Officials say this marks the second such incident in about a month.

Festival of Leaves Highlights Downtown Front Royal Parade

Turnout high for SCBI open house
On October 4 in Front Royal a large crowd attended the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute open house featuring Walnut the White-naped crane born in 1981. County eyes sliding scale for elderly tax relief
Warren County weighs changes to its tax code for elderly and disabled exemptions under Chapter 160 Article 6. The present rules grant 100 percent relief to ages 65 to 69 with earnings up to 26500 and to those 70 and older with up to 30000. Assistant County Attorney notes the board may amend the relief terms.
