Wildfire in Shenandoah County destroys six homes
A 200 acre wildfire fanned by high winds in northern Shenandoah County destroyed six houses and left some residents homeless. Firefighters contained seven fires by Thursday afternoon, with the Coal Mine Road blaze near Strasburg and the Crooked Run incident near Basye and Conkville as the most significant. The Red Cross assisted evacuees, one firefighter was treated for minor injuries, and investigators confirmed all residents were accounted for.
